Papua New Guinea Peaberry

Papua New Guinea Peaberry

from $14.00

Surprisingly great.

Peaberry coffees take expert roasting skills to perfect due to its hard-shelled singular bean. We never anticipated on how good this Papua Peaberry turned out, a true diamond in the rough. We get hints of a fruity, lemony tones while still tasting earthy like a lot of Peaberrys do. This is one worth trying by a long shot. Available in both 12oz and 5lb.

What is Peaberry coffee?

Peaberry, known in Spanish as caracolillo, is a type of coffee bean. Normally the fruit ("cherry") of the coffee plant contains two seeds ("beans") that develop with flattened facing sides, but sometimes only one of the two seeds is fertilized, and the single seed develops with nothing to flatten it. This oval (or pea-shaped) bean is known as peaberry. Typically, around 5% of all coffee beans harvested are of this form. Peaberry coffee tastes different from normal beans because the different bean shape leads to different roasting characteristics.
